A Victory for Free Speech

A recent Supreme Court decision has altered rules affecting the election landscape. At issue was a law known as the Bipartisan Campaign Reform Act of 2002 which prevented corporations from expressing viewpoints within 30 days of an election primary or within 60 days of a general election. The Supreme Court agreed with an organization called Citizens United which argued that the law infringed on their constitutional right to free speech.

The Supreme Court ruling was attacked by some on the far left whose hostility to corporations is the stuff of legends. The Supreme Court wisely upheld the intent of the Constitution.
