Yankees and Phillies in the World Series

Lakewood is located about midway between Philadelphia and New York City; the two cities represented in this year's World Series. The Philadelphia Phillies will take on the New York Yankees in Yankee Stadium on Wednesday night for game one. Yankee ace CC Sabathia will pitch against Cliff Lee of the Phillies. Both Lee and Sabathia are former Cy Young award winners and were teammates with the Cleveland Indians.

Lakewood is the home of the Lakewood Blue Claws which are a single A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies. The Blue Claws are the 2009 champions of the South Atlantic League. There are fans of both the Phillies and the Yanks in the local area.

Songwriters by the Sea at the Strand

At 8 PM on Friday, October 23rd Songwriters by the Sea - Volume 2 plays at the Strand Theatre, 400 Clifton Ave. in Lakewood. It's an acoustic performance where local musicians can be seen. Another Blue Claw Flea Market

Titanic at the Little Theatre

The movie Titanic will be shown at the Little Theatre, Georgian Court University, 900 Lakewood Ave. at 6:30 PM on Monday the 19th. This is the 1953 version. There will be popcorn and beverages and reservations are required even though the movie is free. For information call 732-987-2263.

Comedy for Kids at the Strand Theater

Jersey Shore Kids Consignment Sale

The Jersey Shore Kids Consignment Sale runs from Saturday, October 10th through Monday October 12th. Weekend hours are from 9 AM to 6 PM. On Monday hours run from 9 AM to 7 PM.
